Hi Everyone,
Well, here we are. It’s the second-to-last day of 2025, and I thought it would be fun to go back and look at what I think were the most helpful Laurel Home blog posts in 2025.
Helpful for us or for you, Laurel? ;]
Very funny. ALL of the posts are helpful for me! ;]
However, I went through the last three pages of blog posts, plus a few on page four that were published in 2025 and have come up with the six most helpful posts for you guys.
But before we discuss the six most helpful blog posts, I need to mention that after TONIGHT, December 30, 2025, the Laurel Home Guides that are my pride and joy will no longer be on sale, and the price will be going up substantially.
Okay, let’s begin with the first of the six most helpful Laurel Home blog posts 2025
Architectural Details That Will Elevate Your Rooms – Parts 1 & 2
Actually, the post above and the post below go together and are probably two of the most helpful posts on this entire blog. In them, I share every moulding I selected. Guys, I looked at hundreds of mouldings and analyzed each one more than I care to admit. I adore each of them more than I can say.
My only regret is that I didn’t decide to change the living room wainscoting from day one. It made an unholy mess and delayed the job by a couple of weeks. However, I would’ve been kicking myself had I not done it. Everyone who walks in insists they must be original.

Only the window casing was original, and the tall, straight piece of the baseboard. Even the window sills were new. There wasn’t one before.

All of the links are in the posts.
Next up for the six most helpful Laurel Home blog posts 2025 is:
This post from last March, like maybe 20% of the posts, was a do-over of an older post. Now that the blog is well into its second decade, some posts have gone through as many as four revisions.
The next of these Laurel Home blog posts 2025 is:
Your Wall Color Looks Strange – 12 Reasons Why That Can Happen!
As far as paint goes, this might be the most important post you will ever read on my blog. There is so much that can go wrong with your paint colors, it isn’t funny. The bottom line. If you want the best experience, please test a gallon of paint before it goes on the wall. Better to realize something is wrong with it before it gets painted, right?
Yes, you will want to skip this step because you just want it finished, but it’s better not to.
Next up on the most helpful Laurel Home blog posts 2025 is:
My Bathroom Design– Architecture, Lighting, Vanity, & More Parts 1&2
Obviously, this one’s all about my bathroom, which ended up being one of my favorite parts of the entire renovation.
Oh, what an anxiety-ridden journey that was– from the hideous purple drywall, lit with a single neon white LED light, to the realization in month 12 that the lower-level floor slopes by nearly three inches in total. At least on the bathroom end. The slope is only about one inch in the bedroom and not noticeable because it’s so gradual over the 15′-5″ span.
haha! Remember this below?

I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am that I had that floor corrected!
Again, you’ll find a wonderful list of finishes, including mouldings, tile, and more!
The penultimate of the most helpful Laurel Home blog posts 2025 is:
16 of My Favorite Benjamin Moore Timeless Colors (parts 1, 2 & 3)
In 2016, I created the Laurel Home paint and palette Collection. I decided to use Benjamin Moore colors because they were readily available and I was most familiar with them.

However, it’s a huge brand with numerous fan decks and formulations. On top of it, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of duplicates. Still, I am frequently discovering new, wonderful colors; many of these I used in my home, or at least tested them.
And the last on my list of the six most helpful Laurel Home blog posts 2025 is:
