Hope y’all had a wonderful Turkey Day! We did. It’s my very fave meal and I make the same thing every year. Believe it or not, I started working on this post about 12 days ago, but have been busy, busy, but I have much to share!
In the same home as the gorgeous kitchen, (wait until you see the nickel hood!) I am also working on a French inspired master bedroom. I have lots of wonderful master bedroom decorating ideas on my pinterest boards but I don’t have anything exactly like what we are planning, however, I do have a few quick snapshots of the current bedroom, to give you an idea of the space.
This is the view as you enter the room
Turning left is the fireplace wall and those are actually doors that go out to a flat roof!
Opposite the fireplace wall is the bed wall. The clients put in a closet to the right of the bed which does cramp the space, but since the bed is a queen-size, it’ll be alright. This also shows the door to the master bathroom en suite.
wall showing entrance into the bedroom and adjoining office en suite.
Architecturally, the bedroom like the rest of the home is absolutely exquisite, but in terms of the decor, it’s not quite coming together and most importantly, the client doesn’t like it.
Here are the elements that are going into the newly decorated room. We decided on a pale French, very classical, elegant look.
For Starters, my client who loves wallpaper, insisted that we do that here too. That’s totally fine by me and so I went into the D&D
building and took out about 20 different possibilities, but the one that took the prize was a paper that I had seen several years ago in the movie, Sex and the City— Charlotte’s apartment. Specifically, her entry. Who could forget that absolutely breathtakingly beautiful apartment!?! The paper is by Nina Campbell for Osborne and Little. This is going to make a stunning backdrop for our furnishings!
We are going to have a fabulous Louis XV style Rocaille Armoire. I looked and looked until I found the perfect piece which is from circa 1850. It’s in France now and we’re having it flown over and then we’re going to do a number to the inside to make it really pretty. This is a similar piece and not the best photograph.
Then we needed a very large 12 x 15 area rug. I had considered a beautiful oushak but they were all too gold and then I realized what we needed was an Aubusson reproduction that looks like it was 200 years old. And voila! I found this faded beauty which she just received!
It’s a bit of a risk ordering online, but the vendor sent me a bunch of photos all taken outside at different times of the day. Very sweet. I love this rug! For the bed, I really have a very bad photo. Here it is:
I love this bed because it does not have a foot board! I really wanted to lighten up the bed area, but retain its elegance.
We are planning on reupholstering the bed in this gorgeous damask from Ralph Lauren
The night tables are these wonderful beauties from Chelsea Textiles. Yes, they are Gustavian Swedish-style and not French, however, I find that Swedish and French look wonderful together!
The lighting hasn’t been finalized, but here are my ideas for that. We might keep the present light fixture and paint it or I also love this piece from Cindy Ciskowki. The sconces are rock crystal from Circa Lighting and the Crystal Lamp is from Decorative Crafts.
Trying to sign off, but the formatting is a bit off. On well,
it’s “black Friday.” I hate that term. Shouldn’t it be called
“kaching” Friday? I think so! ;]
