And, I don’t mean sunburned!
But, don’t get me wrong.
I LOVE Pottery Barn. Always have and probably always will.
I mean, in my old home in northern Westchester County, we had Pottery Barn furniture in every room except our bedroom. Here’s the list:
- Round Kitchen table which I loved
- Kitchen chairs
- Dining room chandelier
- Mirrors in living room
- end tables in the living room and den
- two pine beds in the boys’ bedroom
- small dresser
- stool
- lamp
Oh, and haha our POTTERY. aka: dishes, glasses, etc.
And then, in November 2017, I purchased a crapload of things from Pottery Barn. Things I desperately needed. Dishes, serveware, glasses, cutlery, pillows, quilt, napkin rings. Love them all. Very happy with my purchases.
In fact, I proudly feature numerous Pottery Barn products in my weekly widgets on the Hot Sale pages.
But, right now, they’ve extended their Memorial Day Weekend Buy More Save More sale which is now ending at 9:00 PM on May 29th.
However, if you spend $3,000 or more you will get 30% off of the entire order. Plus – FREE SHIPPING.
So, first way you can get yourself in trouble and we’ve discussed this before. Is FREE SHIPPING.
This term almost always applies to items that are coming via UPS, Fedex and the US Postal Service. This does not apply to items like furniture that need to come on a truck.
Thankfully, Pottery Barn’s delivery fees are reasonable. They have a flat-rate system which varies depending on where you live. Makes sense.
To test it out, I put in two of the Tyler leather recliner chairs that we discussed recently in this post about non-barf-worthy recliner chairs. More on that in a sec.
The inside delivery came to $239.00 and I also got the 30% off and would save $1,079.40 on the purchase!
And, the bottom line total for two leather recliner chairs came to just a smidgey over 3,000 bucks! Very reasonable. That is, unless you don’t have 3,000 bucks. If you don’t, please do a search for whatever it is you are looking for.
Sometimes, you can find great deals at Ebay. However, whatever it is, might be used. But it might not be.
So, here’s the deal. No matter how much you order that needs to come on a truck, from Pottery Barn online, I would not be paying more than $239.00!
Now, what inspired this post isn’t the terrific sale going at Pottery Barn. Savvy shoppers know that they ALWAYS have a revolving door of sales at PB. Some are better than others, however. And this one is one of my favorites.
Related to Pottery Barn, as you will soon find out, Laurel actually went SHOPPING one day last week. However, it wasn’t to go to PB
But, YES! I got in my 16-year-old Audi A-4 wagon that I affectionately call Quatti. That’s my nickname as his real name which is Quattro. ;] Who else has named their car? Show of hands please. Nobody? I’m the only freak? Fine. I’ll deal with it. I love my car!
Okay, I needed to go shopping, so, I drove Quatti to the nicest mall (oxymoron?) in Westchester County, called “The Westchester.” Clever, huh?
This mall is in the largest city in Westchester County, White Plains, which is well-known in these parts for its way-out-of-control nonsensical maize of one-way streets. Apparently they were intentionally designed this way to bring the driver to the brink of insanity as they drive round and round in circles until they run out of gas.
Can I tell you how many times I’ve gotten lost in White Plains? And yes, with a GPS. The GPS gets lost too!
However, The Westchester mall is just off of interstate 287 which if you don’t get killed on your way over, you should easily be able to find the mall/parking garage blind-folded.
You just turn off the ramp and it goes straight into the garage! Clever! By the way, a great time to go shopping if you live around here and can swing it, is the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend. It was empty and very easy to get help.
As you can see, we are blessed to have our very own Nordy’s, as well. So, I went in to find this amazing perfume, only to discover that they only sell it online. Therefore, I went online and took advantage of their half-yearly sale going on now through June 2nd.
If you’re interested, this is what I got.

The coral cardigan is almost sold out and the Ted Baker floral cardigan is sold out. The perfume, I smelled on a woman in Manhattan the day before and it was so divine I asked her what it was.
Okay, I realize that I’m making a big deal out of SHOPPING, but there’s a very good reason for this.
And, it might come as a shock to some of you, so please brace yourself.
I HATE SHOPPING!!!
I’m not joking. Look, just because I love beautiful things doesn’t mean I enjoy trudging around looking for them! Besides, I’m naturally lazy. That’s why online shopping is perfect for me.
However, there’s one thing that it is wise not to get online, unless you know your size and that is lingerie.
Right? But, if there’s anything I hate more than shopping, it’s shopping for a bra.
However, last Thursday, God was smiling down on me for he lead me to the most magical bra I have ever found. Really, it is. I’d put it on and model it for you, but… uhhh… do I really want to have a pic of me in my bra ALL over the internet? hahahaha! My inner editor is madly waving its arms at me telling me that’s not a good idea, so sorry, you’ll have to use your imagination. ;]
Laurel, are you going to shut the hell up and get back to Pottery Barn? We have gardening to do!
Yes, of course I am dahlings!!! But this is important, too! A well-fitting figure-enhancing bra (fine, push-up bra) is a girl’s best friend. wink, wink.
Ummm… menfolk, I know that you’re in the john reading my blog on your phones so your wives don’t know that you’re reading an interior design blog, but can you go in the other room for a minute without your phone, while us girls chit chat for a sec.
You can’t???
You know… I find it fascinating that if you want to be sure to have a man listen to whatever it is that you have to say, just begin your sentence with “push-up bra.”
Push-up bra – dear, will you please take out the trash when you have a sec?
Well, at least you got his attention. Whether or not he actually takes out the trash is another matter.
So GUYS… I’m letting you stay (like I have a say in the matter?) But, please calm the freak down and stop that inane GRINNING!!! geeezzz….
Okay, you can smile. We do love it when you show your appreciation.
No link because I don’t want to trigger the sensitive and if I do, I apologize; it is not intentional. Nobody understands that more than me, but just know that this is meant to be all in good early summer fun.
So, come a little closer and I’ll whisper to you the store and the bra I got.
The store is called Intimissimi Italian Lingerie (made in Sri Lanka – lol) and the bra style is called Gioia
Don’t all google at once! You’ll break the internet! haha
However, if you are on the petite side as I am, and you don’t already know about this wonder-bra, you will be thanking me for the rest of your life. And so will your husband or boyfriend. Seriously. These bras are that good. I got four of them and some matching undies and with tax all of that was well under $200 bucks. Please note there’s no affiliate link or endorsement for this company. I wish!!!
Okay, I’m sorry (but not really) for that little diversion. You know… I just start writing and I never really know where things are going to go. We start out with Pottery Barn which naturally leads to a great bra.
All right, enough of this chit-chat, let’s go back to Pottery Barn.
And that’s because, I must tell you that after I got my magic bras, I was in a REALLY good mood. Dare I say euphoric? You have no idea. Hey, maybe this shopping thing isn’t really so bad, after-all!
And then I looked up and there it was.
POTTERY BARN
Being in a good mood, and also knowing that since I’m hawking this merch it might be beneficial to go in, so I do.
Of course, I forgot to take a pic of the exterior of the store and I couldn’t find a decent one that’s current, so I’m putting up this elegant image I found on Wikipedia for the flagship Williams-Sonoma store in San Francisco.
What an elegant, classical beaux arts building!
As most of you know, Williams Sonoma is the parent company for Pottery Barn, and all of its derivatives, which also includes numerous other brands such as W-S Home, Rejuvenation, West Elm and Mark & Graham. The latter is a great place to go shopping for Father’s Day.
So, I walked into the store. The Pottery Barn stores always have great lighting and beautiful displays.
As I went through the store, I snapped some of my favorite displays and chatted with the manager who was very nice.
Naturally, since we are upon the summer season, the front of the store was laden with all things evoking the outdoors, the seashore. You know. Good times.
A casual outdoor furniture display
Beautiful faux coral and glassware
Love this analogous blue scheme of summer-time dishes and glassware. Not easily breakable, of course.
Love these fresh natural fiber bed linens
These pillows are new and look really beautiful in person! Do remember, however, to get an insert about two inches larger than the pillow cover. These are not. A fuller insert will look even better.
And, what do we have here? Why it’s the Tyler recliner chair in black leather, to boot, that we were just discussing in this father of a post about recliner chairs.
Of course, I sat in it.
Yes, I find it to be supremely comfortable. And, just so you know, this is NOT a small chair. It’s not too big either, said Laurel Locks. It’s just right. The non recliner version is a little smaller.
HOWEVER— and of all of the things you need to know when purchasing Pottery Barn furniture.
You need to read the descriptions very carefully. Case in point. This leather chair on sale, if you get two of them with the tax is only a little over $3,000.00 delivered for the two. Remember about five hours ago before we got heavy into the lingerie?
That’s very inexpensive for two leather chairs with delivery and tax. And this is very nice leather, too. However, the cushions are attached. Both of them.
Why do they do that?
It’s one of those things they don’t teach in design school, but you will learn, if you don’t already know.
The problem is that leather doesn’t breathe. After all, it’s skin. So, it’s really like a piece of plastic covering your furniture. For an expensive leather chair, they will create a venting system, otherwise, the air inside the cushion with have nowhere to go. I don’t know if that makes sense or not, but just trust me on this one.
In the case of this relatively inexpensive leather chair, they use fabric on the backside and then the venting issue is not a factor. However, you can’t flip your cushions over.
However, if the thought of not being able to flip your cushions is going to make you crabby, you can get one of these chairs instead. But, expect to pay a lot more.
Thorpe leather recliner from Rejuvenation
It’s very similar to the Tyler, but just a tad smaller. I mean an inch or two.
You could also get the Addison from Williams-Sonoma Home.
It’s a little bit more money, but not a lot. Frankly, I prefer this frame. If you compare the two chairs from the side, you’ll see why. However, if you want a hunkier style chair, then the Rejuvenation is the one to get. Both come in a variety of leathers and other options.
This is also the same frame as the Serena and Lily Spruce Street chair. That does come in leather but not in the recliner version. And, you only have until 12:00 AM to take advantage of their 20% off sale on everything but art at Serena and Lily.
Above is the square arm Chesterfield from Pottery Barn
Below, I’ve created a widget of 33 of my favorite items at Pottery Barn. All of them are currently on sale. Please click on the individual images for more information. Of course, this isn’t everything I love at PB, but it’s a good sampling.

Please also check out the newly updated Hot Sales pages as well, for more beautiful sales and favorite pieces.
In closing, I want to add a final note about Pottery Barn. I have ordered from them for decades. I cannot say that I’ve never had a problem. However, I have never had a problem that wasn’t solved and graciously. That is why I love them so much and why they are still continuing to thrive.

Hi Laurel- I have also been a huge PB fan for years, and purchased a sofa (2016), the PB comfort square arm slip covered L sectional- which wasn’t “cheap”! I ordered the everyday performance linen Crypton which I was told/shown (in store) they poured red wine and coffee which dropped off like NOTHING! Long story short, the online cleaning directions, (which I went over on the phone with customer service), left white splotches. PB strung me along for over a year telling me they would replace the slip covers but then inevitably said no after all that time. My second issue, the pillows have lost SO much of their pazzazz (spelling???) I’m feeling as sad as my pillows look 😢
Hi Zoe,
Sorry for any issues you had with cleaning your slipcovers. Unfortunately, no fabric is bullet-proof. As for the pillows, the inserts should be two inches larger than the casing, unless it’s a lumbar pillow and then one inch is usually sufficient.
Would you use the Tyler swivel rocker with the Carlisle sofa? I have been trying to decide on a PB sofa and chair for months but cant come to a decision. Thanks Laurel
Hi Elizabeth,
Well, I’m not crazy about swivel rockers unless they have a skirt. They aren’t an ideal combo, but I can’t say for sure from where I’m sitting.
Thanks for another great post. I also love Pottery Barn for accessories like pillow covers and linens, I was kind of addicted but It’s under control now. The stores always have a little corner of clearance stuff – irresistible. I like their ever-evolving style and how the old things work with the new. I don’t find their upholstered items very comfortable and I can often find vintage or unfinished case goods for less that are similar or better but it is a fun place for hunting and gathering. I call my seafoam blue-green Prius The Shark.
Hi Donna,
I don’t know if you’ve sat in a PB sofa or chair recently. But, they are different than the old ones which were ghastly. Most of the upholstery is made in North Carolina now.
Amazing post as usual! Laurel, can you write about bathroom handle shapes, should they all be matched? What about thrones and basins, can they be from different brands? Shower heads, taps etc. What are the rules? It’s so confusing! I love bath taps from one brand and basin taps from another. I hope I’m not the only one interested in the topic!
Hi Val,
That’s a very good question. And, the quick answer as with everything is that I think that similar items like faucets for sinks/showers and then toilets, sinks, tub, etc. can be from different companies as long as they coordinate.
Laurel,
You just crack me up!! Wanted to make a quick comment that I too have many Pottery Barn pieces, one of the things I do love about the company is that they do stand behind mistakes they make. One year we ordered a beautiful bed and bed linens for my daughter for Christmas. It added up to a lot of money and we were so excited for my daughter to see her new room set up on Christmas morning. Nothing came though, the delivery never arrived. My daughter opened up a picture. We were so upset and called PB who promptly send out a store employee. They gave us a very large gift card, kept calling to make sure that the bed finally did arrive. The company probably called 4-5 times to make sure all was okay
Mistakes happen, it’s what you do with them that matters and for that reason I keep going back to Pottery Barn.
My only other beef with them is that some of their styles are definitely going towards the more modern end….but I am probably just an old fuddy duddy. Lol.
I wanted to add that I also love reading other’s comments as well as your blog. Someone always has something interesting to add. No other blog as good or as entertaining as yours Laurel. I am almost done with my huge remodel and am currently taking pics. I didn’t hire an interior designer….I simply purchased all of your resources. I hope to do you proud. Will send some pics soon. 😘❤️
Hi Genie,
I’m so sorry it took me so long to publish your wonderful comment! Either I didn’t see that I had a couple of comments or I just blocked it out. But, this has certainly made my day!!! Thank you, thank you!!!
74 international station wagon named Ruby. She was more precious than rubies, because she could carry home our orders from PB. We actually by her from a woman named Ruby. She was in her 80’s and didn’t drive anymore, but had held onto the car for sentimental reasons. She came with a sweet little Shasta trailer which we camped in.
I work next door to that William Sonoma in SF. In the Tiffany building. I have to hold up my hands like blinkers on a horse, just to walk by. I take the train into the City, thankfully, so no room to lug home anything!
I have that lantern, the shade is not replaceable, so watch out when cobweb sweeping.
Oh wow! How cool that you work next door to that wonderful building, Holly! I love San Francisco and your wonderful story. I have a sister, Holly and I lived in Palo Alto in the mid 70s. Did you see my bay window story about my time there. You’ll like it.
Back then, I inherited a ’61 station wagon from my sister, but it smoked, horribly. I couldn’t wait to get rid of it and got me a little Toyota Celica.(named Sakura) Poor thing got totaled in Milwaukee, one fateful day in 1979 when it got sucked into a 16 wheeler. And yes, I was the driver and fortunately wasn’t hurt– physically, that is.
One month later, with my $1,200 check from the insurance company, I moved to NYC.
When you say the shade on the lantern, do you mean the glass?
My car’s name is Bullet. She was sitting outside all new and fancy when there was a shoot out in front of my house. Shot right below the driver side mirror. Three weeks later a flash flood in New Orleans had her back at the dealership beauty parlor getting fixed up. Because “flooded car”will always show up on the car fax I will never be able to sell her and she is mine forever. She definitely likes when I fill her backside with anything from Pottery Barn. She especially liked it when I found Pottery Barn kids chairs and table on the side of the road out for the garbage at someone’s house. Filled a couple of nicks on the table with paint and good as new.
Ouch! Poor Bullet!!! She sounds most intrepid which I know is crucial for those living in New Orleans. But, I’m referring to water issues, not bullets! Yikes! Good thing no one was sitting in the car when that happened!
She sounds like she’s been a loyal and supportive companion as every car should be.
My super told me a couple years ago that if I ever wanted to sell my car that he would buy it. I can’t imagine seeing my Quatti in a different parking space with a different owner!
Dear Laurel,
I can’t even tell you how much I look forward to reading your posts every week! I refer back to them time and time again when making design decisions for my home. Keep them coming, please!
I love Pottery Barn as well. Not sure if you saw it in the store, but they carry a great
lamp called the Noah Trophy Table Lamp that has the option of a lighted base. I’ve always thought this feature gives just enough of a warm glow to any space.
Loved your post, as always!
Hi Charlene,
I’ve seen that lamp online, I believe. I didn’t know that the base lights up too.
I wish I had the same experience with Pottery Barn as you. Their customer service has been horrible. Two of the three chairs I ordered came with the wrong fabric. First they stalled me for over a month by shuffling me around among “teams,” and only did a replacement order when I disputed the credit card charge. The replacement is taking another 10-12 weeks because they can’t or won’t expedite it. They double charged the delivery and refused a refund, giving me a store credit instead. Plus they say I have to pay for the replacement and then they’ll refund it after delivery. Never again!
Hi Kristy,
I’m sorry that you’ve not had a good experience. Welcome to my world!!!
As you have been made aware through this experience, there is a lot that can go wrong. However, I am missing some information here to say if this could’ve been avoided. Still, I am wondering why you accepted delivery for chairs that came in with the wrong fabric? That should’ve been done. But maybe it was someone else home, at the time? Still, because the chair was accepted and signed off as being okay, is a reason that they do have a right to charge you for the delivery. The time to remedy furniture that’s faulty for any reason is when it arrives. Otherwise, it’s a pain. Always, no matter the company.
Only getting the refund after receiving the wrong piece is standard for all vendors, as well. What if the customer decides not to send it back? Then, they are out of pocket. Of course, they will refund you, once they’ve received the pieces back.
The two incorrect chairs should’ve been refused, in the first place.
Please understand that I am not chastising you in any way. I’m just stating how things work and how easy it is to get burned. And that goes for ALL furniture companies, regardless of whether one has purchased online or in person through a store or even through an interior designer.
Just so you know, it was ME who got stuck with these delivery charges more times than I care to count.
The other thing that can trip folks up and it did me a couple of times is that I wrote in the order correctly, but when the acknowledgment came back, they goofed and it was not input correctly. Usually, I caught it, but a couple of times, I did not and had to suffer the consequences.
This is less likely with PB, because of course, it’s all computerized and they send a little thumbnail of what you’re ordering. It’s for their protection as well as yours.
Bottom line is that please know that these issues are not uncommon and are in no way exclusive to Pottery Barn or any other company.
I enjoyed this post, and also like pottery barn- things I have my eye on usually show up on your hot sales page eventually- like the Carlisle sofa which comes slipcovered too. They offer free ‘interior design’ and the person who came over was pretty awful. Called me Ames. I had just my rugs, cut out paper the size of the items I was most interested in, was asking advice for layouts and what to get – sectional, sofa…. she was not very helpful, everything she suggested was line the wall with furniture, and was obnoxious so we ordered from OKL.
But I’m still debating between two leather Irving swivel rockers or two Ballard Designs roll arm swivel gliders. I like the ones you used in your long distance design job, but wasn’t able to find them. (Think you could put up an affiliate link? 😉
Hi Amy,
Are you referring to the brownish and white-ish patterned four chairs that are swivel gliders? I don’t have a link for those. They are by Lee and you would need to get them from a dealer.
Sorry about the lame “designer” from PB. It’s not impossible to get someone good. They do exist, however, most of the ones I’ve encountered who work in furniture stores do not have a lot of experience and are only trained to sell the products available through the store.
I went into one of our local shops and they had some Juliska flatware on display. I picked up a piece to have a closer look and was shocked how chintzy it was. This is why it is good to see things in person before you buy.
Hi Susie,
That certainly is the case, sometimes.
Of course I name my cars! Izi – a 1964 Isuzu bellet (forerunner to the toyota corolla). The Tomato – a RED 1987 dodge aspen. The upholstery, dash, ceiling, steering wheel, and even the hubcaps were bright red. Then there was Little Red, a red ford station wagon. Now I drive Paloma (as in La Paloma Blanca), a white 97 cavalier. It was my late in-laws’ car. They gave it to me when Little Red died and I was their primary caregiver. Somehow the dove seemed fitting to the gift.
Nice new duds! Bra shopping is THE WORST!! I recently bought bras online for the first time and it worked. I liked 1 out of the 2 so I will just order a bunch of those and be done with it.
Hi Gail,
I am so heartened that car naming is actually very common! At least it is amongst you guys.
Thank you so much for this post. I have been buying from PB for years and am happy to see that you have too! I use their things all the time, but often worry that my home will look like one of their catalogues. The constantly changing design though, keeps drawing me back in!
Hi Pamela,
You touched on something interesting and that is… most of their stock does age out after a year or two. Yes, they have a core of staples, but a lot of it does change. So, purchasing a mirror that you love today, might very well not exist in a couple of years. So, now, you have something that not everyone else has.
In addition, I have never done a room in 100% Pottery Barn or any one brand, for that matter. One time, someone said that they loved Wisteria, but were afraid that the room would look too feminine for the rest of her family. Well, I took a look and even without having to work very hard, I was able to put together an exceedingly handsome and masculine room using only items from Wisteria. I find that the best rooms, however, have elements of both masculine and feminine. At least, what is traditionally thought of in those terms!
I love your post and you have really great content. The issue is that there is so much crap advertised on your blog that it’s hard to load. Very frustrating.I usually just give up!
I’m sorry that you’re having a problem Shari. Believe me. My first priority is to have an excellent user experience. The ads are how I fund the site which costs me hefty five figures to run annually. And, of course, to help fund my need for food and shelter. ;]
However, for me, the ads are slower to load, but the content itself is popping right up, both on desktop and mobile. Since I don’t know what device you’re using, I can’t say for sure, but here are some things to be aware of and/or to try to help the site (and others load faster for you.) Sometimes sites are slow to load because your device is busy doing something in the background that you’re not aware of.
I would try rebooting your device. I find that I have to do that periodically, especially when I’m working on a post and might have a lot of tabs open. So, closing excessive tabs that might be left open might help some.
The other thing you might try is using a different browser. Sometimes that will help.
I, too, have an apartment that looks a bit like a Pottery Barn store and I love it! And I, too, have only had positive experiences with them. Here’s what I did not know: the pillow insert should be 2″ larger than the cover???? OMG! No wonder! Thank you for that and for all the other gems I get from your site! Love your writing and humor!
Hi Pamela,
Yes! That’s one reason why I link back to old posts that are related, so that folks can get the info they might’ve missed. And, Mr. Google likes it too. He likes anything that will benefit the reader and linking back to relevant old posts is one of those ways.
ha! You take photos in Pottery Barn, I take photos in Crate & Barrel…but my house doesn’t look anything like a Crate & Barrel house–I just like their accessories and colors.
Hi Ivis,
I like Crate & Barrel too!
Hello Laurel,
I so enjoy your blog, and your unique sense of humor is refreshing. Pottery Barn is one of my favorite retail places too, but just one word in favor of environmental issues: objects made for “all weather” use are usually some form of plastic (melamine, acrylic, weather safe wicker). Unless you plan to keep these items forever and pass them on to your great grandchildren, they will probably go to a landfill eventually, and live on forever.
I guess that’s the way of our world. I don’t have an answer.
Good Morning Laurel,
As I was reading this post, it just struck me how fun your job really must be. Although I don’t love shopping either, (especially for clothes–it’s so hard to find great clothes that fit our petite frames) I think there’s something so magical about walking into a beautiful Pottery Barn or Williams Sonoma and drooling over the enticingly displayed merchandise. So I thought, how fun, trying out chairs, snapping pictures, chatting up the sales people. I know you worked hard to get here, and you put up with a lot of awfulness from people during your days of designing for clients, but here you are. It’s interesting to see where people’s paths take them, or in your case, what people carve out for themselves. Now you are your own boss–that’s got to be the best! I appreciate all of your posts so much, because you add to my post-retirement education while making me smile a lot, cry sometimes, but also helping me understand how to make my surroundings more beautiful.
I am going to go check out those bras. At almost 65, I still care the heck out of how I look!
Hi Connie,
Thank you for such a beautiful comment and for your wonderful support for quite a while now. I lose track of time. Yes, I feel like the luckiest girl/woman on earth! There is definitely a lot less aggravation working as a blogger than an interior designer. The worst now, from an emotional standpoint is the odd troll who feels entitled to take me down to their low level. Otherwise, the only other thing is technical stuff that you guys rarely see unless there’s a massive malfunction like the site crashing which is verrrry rare these days. It better be. I’m paying well over $600 a month to have this baby hosted. Very happy with WPEngine, however!
Thank you for this post. I’ve always loved PB’s bedding plus their furniture and accessories for children.
I was just visiting their site in search of an outdoor umbrella. I’m not sure what color to get. Would you be interested in writing about outdoor design? We are building a deck next to our patio and need some help figuring out how to furnish both “rooms” 😊.
Btw: I had a cute VW 2001Jetta with a zippy V6 engine named Old Blue.
Hi Patricia,
I did an outdoor post, last year. That’s it in the link.
Dear Laurel, I’ve been following your blog for years and want to thank you for all your excellent advice on all things interior design.
I find myself going back to specific advice you’ve given again & again. For example how to select & measure for drapery rods & drapes, choosing paint colors & finishes, oh so many important issues!
Anyway, this may sound kinda weird but I love your humor too & I feel like we could be friends!
I’m a realtor in The Rivertowns (in Westchester:) and a design junkie. If you’d ever like to meet for coffee or lunch I’d love to meet you.
Perhaps there could even be some synergy between our businesses. Not sure how, but the two industries are definitely related and I’ve long wanted to be more hands on with my websites for example and not merely show my latest listings like I do now.
Wrapping up now to reiterate my thanks for always being insightful & entertaining.
Best wishes,
Andrea
Hi Andrea,
I would love that! I’ve met several local readers and it’s a lot of fun! One of them, has become a good friend and is moving to Florida soon which has me a little bummed.
Hi Laurel,
Great post! I love Pottery Barn for their china and pillow covers. And OMG, do you know how hard it is to find a good bra that is made from cotton! Thank you, thank you!
Hi Pat,
Well, this bra is not made from cotton. I guess that would be hoping for too much. haha
My white Fiat is called Casper. Casper the Friendly Fiat. I love naming cars!
Very cute!
I drive a white minivan (I have three young kids and never knew I could love a car so much) and I call her Pearl.
Awww… They really do seem to have personalities. Whenever I have my car washed, I swear that it drives better. More peppy.
I named my car Maggie. She is a white Mini Convertible with black racing stripes. After I got her I was coming out of HomeGoods looking at her and decide to call her Maggie because the name is sassy like my car. To my surprise, when I turned on the radio the song playing Maggie Mae was playing. Then it also turned out Margaret Thatcher died that same day and she was a beautiful British lady like my Mini. So Maggie it is.
