Boston Marathon 2021 + Back Bay Houses Early Fall

First of all, thank you all so much for your loving and kind messages. I’m still reading through them. But, just know, your support means everything to me, and I’m deeply touched!

There have been so many incredibly kind people through this ordeal. (if you missed the drama you can read about it here.)

Wednesday evening was the first time I ventured out more than a couple of blocks, and I went to Trader Joe’s. Holly Golightly had Tiffanies and I have TJ’s. ;] (Incidentally, I think Joe is doing better than he has been for a while.)

The darling woman who checked me out asked me how I was doing.

Of course, I was wearing a mask and glasses, so my injury wasn’t very apparent. I told her that I’ve been better and flashed my face at her, and quickly put the mask back up.

She said, “Oh my! Well, you certainly deserve a break. I’m giving you a discount tonight. And, please help yourself with any bouquet you like,” she said, pointing to the flowers behind her register.

You’re giving me flowers? I repeated that just to make sure I had heard her correctly. “Yes, please, you deserve it,” she said.

So, of course, I went straight for the roses. And, here they are!

flowers Trader Joes - - Boston Marathon 2021 weekend
I daresay this would never have happened in New York. Boston is like a big little town. I’m so happy here, and now that I’ve shed blood on the streets, I guess I’m officially a Bostonian!

Fortunately, I’m making a speedy recovery. The stitches are out (which was worse than them going in), and the bruising that peaked on Wednesday is rapidly dissipating.

Please note that I AM resting a lot.

I did debate not doing a post but have concluded that it makes me more anxious NOT to do one. Thinking about things a lot this weekend, I realize that the blog isn’t the real issue. It’s primarily other things, but I don’t wish to get into it.

Today, I went out for a walk just before sunset.

six days after accident - - Boston Marathon 2021 weekend

I took this selfie near Boylston Street near where they are preparing for the Boston Marathon 2021!

Of course, the city is full of people coming to see the Marathon– Or run in it!

I snapped numerous photos in Back Bay, beginning with the area behind my house where the finish to the Boston Marathon 2021 is.

Boston Marathon Finish Line Boylston St - Boston Marathon 2021 weekendHere you can see the finish line of the Boston Marathon 2021 on Boylston Street, between Exeter and Dartmouth Streets. I never thought about it, but the runners see the letters upside down. TV viewers, of course, will see the letters right side up.

Behind the finish line is the Boston Public Library.

And, no, I have not been inside the library yet, which I realize is a crime, but I promise that I will. In the upper left is a sliver of the John Hancock building, two blocks directly behind me and visible from all of my windows! You can see it here from my den window.

John Hancock Building Boston Back Bay - Boston Marathon 2021 weekend
This shot is close to where my accident happened. We’ll get to that in a sec. However, I happened to look up and noticed the illusion that the John Hancock building was merely a giant piece of steel and glass, folded like origami. haha. Behind the stretch limo is wonderful Newbury Street.

If you don’t know, Newbury Street was originally part of the residential section of Back Bay.

For more about the Back Bay section of Boston, and its rich, but also unsavory history, lol please read this.

But, at some point, businesses moved into the street-level floors. Now, it is mixed residential and commercial. The closer to the public garden one goes, the swankier the shops become.

Boston Marathon 2021 - memorial to bombing victims 2013 - Boston Marathon 2021 weekend

In the middle of this image is the memorial for the bombing victims in 2013. It was installed in 2019. In the background, you can see “The Pru.” (Prudential Building)

Frankly, despite that horrific tragedy, my recent fall; and that obnoxious thing called winter, I feel like I’m living in paradise. For more about that, please check out these images of the magnificent Boston Back Bay springtime.

But, speaking of falls, I’ve been past the scene of the accident numerous times now.

I mean, gotta get back up on the horse, right? Naturally, I’ve given the area a very close look to see what might have happened. And, I think I’ve figured out a likely scenario.

Dartmouth Street and Commonwealth Ave - Boston Marathon 2021 weekend
Here’s where it was. Dartmouth Street is parallel, and Commonwealth Ave is going off into the distance. The barrier only went up yesterday. But, let’s zoom in a little.

Dartmouth Street curb Boston Back Bay - Boston Marathon 2021 weekendA likely scenario is that I managed to plant my right foot right against that overly deep dip between the curb and the bricks, and it’s right where the twin horizontal leaves are. As I went to take my next step with my right foot, instead of moving forward, my foot got slightly stuck behind the curb while my body was still moving forward; thus, I had no option but to go down.

However, all of that took a total of one second from being upright to landing face down.

Vendome hotel scene of accident - Boston Marathon 2021 weekend

This is the opposite view. So, I would’ve stepped off closer to where the man in the blue mask is standing. That is another iconic building in the background that I adore, and it’s called the Vendome.

Originally built as a hotel, it is now a condominium. Bostonians will know this, but most of you won’t know about another tragedy associated with this gorgeous building. In June 1972, a fire that destroyed a good portion of the building also injured numerous firefighters. And, nine others died when part of the building collapsed on them. There is a memorial to the fallen in the Commonwealth Avenue mall near the Vendome.

Okay, enough of falls and tragedies. Let’s finish with some more beauty from the residential section of Back Bay Boston.

This is only a tiny sample taken today near or just after sunset.

favorite windows Comm Ave and Dartmouth Street

Nearby is this beautiful building that I always love to pass in the evening. The lights always look so inviting and warm.

However, earlier, I took some other photos of beautiful Back Bay homes with their fall flowers and decor.

128 Commonwealth Ave Boston Back Bay

128 Commonwealth Ave. is one of the twin “sisters” near where I live. The limestone facade of 128 and 130 is not original. The facades were renovated in the early 20th century, so they are in the beaux-arts style. What I find especially interesting is different architects designed them.

You can see another shot of these gorgeous homes in this post from September 30, 2020.

The rest of these images were taken between the blocks of Exeter and Clarendon on Marlborough Street.

October 2021 - Marlborough Street Back Bay, Boston

I love that time in the spring and fall when it’s difficult to tell if it’s young or old.

This one’s a touch out of focus, but I love the yellow mums in the iron urns against the brownstone and black door.

Well, that’s a wrap.

Oh wait. No. I took more photos after publishing on Sunday. The first one is of this oft-photographed door in Beacon Hill.

The rest of the images were taken on Commonwealth Ave between Arlington and Berkley Streets.

I believe all of them are also in the springtime post.

This home above and below went through an extensive renovation a few years ago. I have no idea the machinations they needed to go through to get approved by the planning board.

  1. Laurel, I’m so glad you’re on the mend, and continuing to look fab! I would have been super distracted by all that beauty, and with uneven surfaces beneath me likely have tripped as well. The pictures take my breath away – thank you for venturing out and sharing them!

  2. Comm Ave at Berkley, 27 Commonwealth Ave. The last photo in the post, I used to live there! This was long before its present renovation, it is now a few condos with the carriage house turned in to a drive under garage. Back in the day, the property was owned by the MGH and interns lived there. It was idyllic. We walked up Comm Ave, through the Public Garden, up Charles St to the hospital. The house had many original features, especially woodwork, mouldings, but the closet interiors were most impressive – tiny drawers, built in cabinets in the walk in closet. I’ll reiterate that I am local and am happy to be helpful in any way I can. I know it’s tough being new in town even good change is stressful.

  3. So enjoyed the photos of your neighborhood! Glad you are on the mend. Kind folks all around you lifting your spirits 🙂 Love your blog now that I’ve found it… even if you need to cut back, pls never go away.

  4. Gorgeous Photos! Thank You

    You crack me up
“I’ve shed blood on the streets, I guess I’m officially a Bostonian!”

    LOL

  5. I loved looking at these pics of Boston. Thanks! What magnificent gardens! You captured a beautiful ginkgo tree in the photo with the yellow mums in the twin iron urns. Ginkgo trees are magical with their little fan-like leaves.

  6. God bless you and keep you, Ms. Laurel! I’m so thankful that you are recovering and will be here to bless us with more of your wonderful ideas! Christ is watching over you. You’re an artist and creator–like Him!
    Take care!
    Melissa

  7. i’m glad you love boston. if you think it’s great you should go out to one or two of the boston neighborhoods. you will find that in boston people identify more with their neighborhood than the city. i put my neighborhood, not boston on my address label.
you need to go to jamaica plain. the pond and then the streets that run from the pond to the center. beautiful old houses and great restaurants.
roslindale is another. roslindale square is compact. park your car in the city lot and just walk. they have the best restaurants.
but of course watch where you walk. boston does have a bit of a problem keeping up with side walk repairs.

  8. So glad you are doing better, Laurel. Sorry you had that accident.

Loved your fall pictures of Back Bay. Do you know what the green trees are in some of the photos – they look like Christmas trees, flanking some of the entrance doors?

  9. Wow! You ARE healing quickly!

You must feel better knowing what the likely culprit was that caused the fall. Now you know what to avoid.

  10. “Get back on the horse,” she said. Next time, with a helmet, full body armour, and what the heck, maybe a pike and shield for good measure!

Goodness, you poor girl, what a painful bloody fright.

What a sweetheart, the shop assistant who gave you a rosy posy. She must be an angel in her spare time.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving; today’s the day, up here in maple syrup country 🙂

  11. Laurel, you are still beautiful and you add so much beauty and sage advice to my life. I am truly thankful to you! Did you use your hand palms to break your fall? I read somewhere that extending the hands in a fall is a reflex. If your hands are fine, then I assume you fainted?

  12. I am so so sorry for your hit to the ground, or road/sidewalk. Laurel, you are a trooper with the most gorgeous teeth ever.
I am so happy you live in Boston and making new friends. I have never lived in NYC, however, I have had wonderful experiences there.
Laurel – One lady handed us a $20.00 bill which my granddaughter had dropped. The lady was going out the door and saw it. This was recently.
Also, met a man at Charlie Os who got us into a travel club so going to Europe was much cheaper. He introduced us to his boss who was the maitre de at the Rainbow Room. (Alan Fields) and we had a fabulous dinner on the house. Alan sat with us and took us through all the contacts he had in Europe so if we needed anything to give a shout out to these people. All of this would seem like a scam but it wasn’t. The Rainbow Room was a beautiful place back in the 70s.
At the deli where “Harry Met Sally” was filmed had another wonderful experience. I was waiting outside the deli for my husband to come. I was talking with a wonderful homeless man and the owner came out and said my table was ready. I looked puzzled but walked in and the owner said he just wanted to be sure I was safe. I assured him I was and thanked him then walked back out and continued to talk with the gentleman who was so kind.
Laurel, I know NYC can be daunting and I’ve experienced this part, but I’m so blessed every time I go.

  13. Another great post. How do you look so pretty with all that happened to your sweet face? Take care and happy fall.

  14. I’m so sorry to see this, and didn’t read the earlier blog to hear of your fall! It does look bad, but hopefully doesn’t feel as bad…Cheers to a speedy recovery!

  15. Laurel, happy you are making a speedy recovery. Thank you for your blogs , you have no idea how much I look forward to them.

  16. Just looked at your pictures – what a fall!!! So lucky to have 2 men and one a doctor when you need them. Now when you go to your doctor you’re going to have to check the box “have you fallen lately”!
    Love the pictures of Boston!!!
Be careful when you put in new stairs. We have put in new front and back wood stairs and I have fallen twice. Of course tit wasn’t my fault!

  17. So glad your feeling and looking better. Hope whatever is going on with you personally works itself out. I’ll keep you in my prayers 🙏 and of course I love your blog!!!!!

  18. Oh dear Laurel, what a terrible thing to happen to such a lovely person. I’m glad you are mending and back on your feet. Sounds like you’ve met many angels along to way. Thanks for sharing your beautiful Boston with us. Love the photos. I’m sending healing thoughts. It’s Canadian Thanksgiving and I am so grateful to have found you and your blog to guide me through the restoration of our 1911 home. Take care 🌹

  19. You’re a spunky one! I’m glad to see you’re doing better. Very interesting pictures of Boston!
While putting out Halloween decorations, my 6 and 9 year old granddaughters reminded me to put uneven numbers of items on the coffee table and buffet. When we went to the paint store, I explained they had to look at the undertones of the colors they wanted. They’ve heard me talk about your blog and paid attention!

  20. Laurel,
Thank you for sharing your photos, adventures and misadventures in Boston! It’s no wonder that you fell on that tricky old time-worn sidewalk. Anyone could. Shortly after moving into my new townhouse, I fell down my own stairs, not once but twice! OK the second time I can blame the cat, but still. So heartwarming to see you on the mend, and I look forward hopefully to enjoying more of the architecture and style of Boston with you in the coming months.

  21. Laurel,
I’m so glad to read that you’re on the mend! From someone who had her nose shattered, I speak from experience in telling you to go grab some arnica montana gel and put it all over topically and at the same time put the little homeopathic tablets under your tongue constantly. The color will disappear quickly

  22. Love your blog – lovely and useful! My son lives in Boston – on Marlborough Street – the pictures you posted made me happy picturing him there! Glad you are feeling better!!!

  23. You’re looking much better, glad it wasn’t any worse. Falls are so scary. I have a good friend that works for Trader Joe’s and she says it’s the best place she’s ever worked. They Value their employees.

  24. Ai-yai-yai, Laurel! Life is complex, isn’t it? I trust you’ll find your footing (pun intended) with the life-is-exhausting challenge and feel more grounded soon.
I re-read my comment on your fall post and am wishing my husband hadn’t been rushing me to dinner…or wishing I could amend it. It sounds a bit…ugh…I don’t know…it just doesn’t read right. Sigh.
I’m so happy you’re healing and so happy the universe (via TJ’s) is handing you roses.
I can see why you love classic design, surrounded by all that older architectural beauty. And it explains also why my designs lean toward the contemporary, since I grew up here in Silicon Valley where they are always trying to make things look like The Jetson’s.

  25. Laurel, I’m so very sorry to read about your accident, but happy to hear that you are getting better. Lovely homes, lovely architecture. Thanks so much.

  26. Laurel, you are healing so quickly and beautifully (but probably not quick enough for you!). I love your Trader Joe’s story. As a Southerner, I’ve always been impressed with how friendly and helpful Bostonians are! I didn’t comment last week bc reading about your fall gave me a bit of PTSD; I did the same thing upright one second, face down the next with a shattered wrist and broken leg. Reading all the comments, apparently it happens a lot! God speed with your recovery.

  27. Yeah! I was prepared for no blog post, but this is the best: A healing Laurel! And you do look so beautiful…prettier than Back Bay! If there were a Decorator Superhero, you are it! I think your Superpower must be ____. (fill in the blank).

My sister said said she wants Mary Poppins’ superpower…snap your fingers, and things clean themselves up!

I’d just be happy with Mary Poppins’ carpetbag….

If I had to name yours, it’s sprinkling Beauty over everything!

    Cheers!!

  28. Lauren, you are healing beautifully! A couple of years ago while on a gals’ trip, I face planted at the Vatican! I was looking everywhere in awe except where I was going, and tripped on a cobblestone. The Vatican staff took great care of me and sent me to the ER. I had a broken nose and two black eyes…not the best look for the remainder of our trip. I am still waiting for a follow up from the Pope to check on me! Keep on keeping on! I so look forward to your blogs and wonderful humor! Take care!

  29. The pic of the woman in the red lipstick (you) was just as beautiful as the wonderful pics of the Back Bay city houses!

  30. Oh my goodness I’m glad you are doing better! What an awful experience and I can see how it could easily happen. I adore your tours of Boston! My daughter is in her final semester at Northeastern and I really miss going up to see her as much as we did pre-COVID. Boston has to be one of he most beautiful cities in the US. And yes the library is gorgeous – glad it’s on your to-do list!

  31. Holy shit, Laurel! Here’s hoping your spirits soar sooner than later, and that your bruises go away very quickly. Orange concealer is very handy for those black eyes, and green concealer will counteract any redness. If any of that matters to you — the mask and sunglasses are probably just as effective. 😄. (I used to be a makeup artist before I was a decorator).

  32. Laurel, I just love your infectious positive spirit! And every post featuring the Back Bay is a virtual vacation for me. Glad you’re bouncing back so quickly.

  33. You can’t keep a good blogger down! Thank you, Laurel, for persevering & posting today. These beautiful home exteriors make me glad it’s fall. I live in the woods out West. Nary a sidewalk in sight, but lots of pretty trees & paths.
Thanks for your humorous, intelligent, & beautiful posts. Speedy full recovery.

  34. Laurel, so glad to see how fast you are recovering from your fall. You look wonderful. Thank you for the update and pictures of Boston. Makes me want to visit.

  35. Wish I could see your photos, but the won’t load on my iPad. So glad you’re feeling better. Wrote you a message earlier, but the page reloaded and I lost it. So many problems reading your blog!

  36. You’re looking wonderful and on the road to complete recovery! Streets and curbs are treacherous… two bags and a broken curb…
recipe for trouble. Wishing you continued and fast healing… Thanks for the fall photos…

  37. Gosh! I’m so sorry for your injury! I’m so glad you are recovering so quickly, although I’m sure it doesn’t seem quick to you. Please take care of yourself. What would we do for lovely pictures of beautiful decor and buildings without you? You are our (speaking for all of your readers) inspiration!

    Best wishes!

  38. Your face is healing well. I am sorry you zigged when you should have zagged. Enjoy the marathon and get yourself to the public library. It’s beautiful inside. I was in Boston this past summer and visited the Gardner Museum for the first time. The indoor atrium is stunning!

  39. Everyone is outdoors in the fresh air and likely 6 feet away from others they don’t live with. The virus dies in seconds in the sunlight. I need the police to be able to breathe and run in case of emergency. These folks are heroes who set good examples for us by their willingness to be in the line of fire. We should all be so brave as to be standing out there on watch for those that would end our lives.

  40. Hello Laurel, I am so glad that you are better and out-and-about. Those curvy things in the ironwork at 128 Commonwealth look like telephone receivers. Boston gets a high score for great architecture and walking space, but a very poor one for so many people not wearing masks! And those two maskless policemen (the masks seem stuck to their chests), setting a bad example–disgusting!

  41. Laurel, I am so happy to hear you are doing better and healing well! I think you’re on to something with the tripping hazard at that corner (these are everywhere in my historic town). These things happen very quickly. I had a fall two summers ago while running across a smoothly paved parking lot. I was wearing my bifocals with clip on sunglasses, making it hard to see the surface near my feet. I missed the subtle, unmarked speed bump coming up. I tripped on it and after a few attempted recovery steps, fell to my left side injuring my wrist and knee. My knee was okay but scraped up, but my wrist bone was bruised (it hurt like heck the next 48 hours). I had to wear a splint on the wrist for a few weeks. But I am all healed now and much wiser (no more running in glasses, or parking lots lol). You live in such a beautiful area, thank you for sharing your lovely town. Wishing you all the best in your rest and recovery.

  42. Very glad you’re doing better Laurel. And very happy you’re happy to be living in Boston. Your pictures make me want to be in this wonderful historic city too.

  43. Hi Laurel,

Stunning! Your pictures (and neighborhood) are just stunning!
I live just outside San Francisco and the City has undergone some changes of late primarily due to homelessness. It’s sad all around.
So glad you’re feeling better and healing up!
    ❤️, Ellie

  44. So sorry to hear you have fallen. Such a shock to your system! Am so glad to see you are feeling better. Take care & enjoy the fall! I love this time of year & your pictures are so inviting. Thank you!!

  45. Of course with that tripping hazard and two bags in each hand anyone would fall!
You are so clever Laurel you will find your way. You are my muse…
Boston looks like Paris 😍 Excellent choice!

  46. Laurel, your Fall scenario is the likely one. My wife had a similar occurence in the Spring. Looking at the results, you could have been twins! She healed well, as I am certain you will. Happy to see you back on the horse and enjoying the beauty of your new hood.

  47. Those Boston cobblestones can be so tricky to navigate. So glad you are feeling better! And thank you for the beautiful photos!

  48. They did a marvelous job of patching you up. There is an over the counter scar cream that is not expensive. Terez-Honor Scar Remover Gel should help a lot. It gets rave reviews. So glad you are all right and enjoying Beantown. My mom grew up there and we love it.

  49. I am so glad you are feeling better. Dont worry about anything … just make oct your month to relax… your flowers are so pretty.

  50. So glad you are recovering…. So scary falling….thanks for posting,I’m sure it made us all feel better knowing you are back to routine!❤

  51. Hi Laurel,
I’m so glad you’re feeling better. Even with your bruises, you have a beautiful smile.
Thank you for sharing your city with us. It’s a wonderful town filled with wonderful people.

  52. PERSEVERANCE (tenacity, determination, persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success) plus GUMPTION (common sense, back-bone, shrewd or spirited initiative and resourcefulness) equals LAUREL BERN. You go girl!
    (Hmmm…and I thought I couldn’t wear lipstick with a mask 😉

  53. Dear Laurel, cannot believe how quickly you are healing – soon it will be an unpleasant memory. Your pics of Boston Back Bay make me nostalgic, We live just outside of Boston. I used to go in once a week for a language course I took at 170 Beacon. I loved walking through the neighborhood, Sadly neither my husband nor I have gone into town since COVID-19 overwhelmed the city. You pics remind me of how lovely the Back Bay can be in Fall.

  54. Warms my heart to see how much better you look. I moved away from my TJ’s and miss it a bit. The employees always seemed happy.

  55. Dear Laurel
You are looking marvelous. I took a similar fall last March, and cracked my shoulder socket. I think sometimes God sends us these trials so that we are forced to re-evaluate what is important in our lives. Just know that you are important to a lot of people. I think of all the others who wake on Sunday morning just to read your blog! Take care.

  56. What a heart-warming post to wake up to. To see you out, smiling, being treated kindly, and sharing the many jewels of my beloved city is an early Christmas present!

    You are a gem!!

  57. Even with your injury you are beautiful woman and a fast healer! FYI, I also face planted in Boston (I live Canada but grew up in England), close to Louis Riel’s house. My face bounced off a car, which saved me from the cobblestones. My husband joked it was because he was a traitorous ba*#@!d! Thank you for this wonderful trip around the Back Bay and your update. Keep resting and rejuvenating! Hugs!

  58. Laurel, I think you owe the doctor who did your stitches holiday gifts for the rest of his/her life! I can’t even see where the stitches were! I’m so glad you’re getting out and enjoying your neighborhood. I’ve found that the worst part of falling is the fear that I’ll fall again, so kudos for getting out there. BTW, figuring out what happened is so much better than not knowing. If nothing else, it lets you think about whether changing footwear or glasses or something might be worth a try. Thank you for taking the time to update us and for the beautiful photos!

  59. Laurel, so happy to know you are on the mend.
Had a similar accident on old pavement where I live. Broke my arm and have a plate in it.I walked the area and could not figure out what happened.
Be careful and really watch where you are walking especially old cobblestone areas of which there are alot in Boston.
    God Bless,
    Vivian

  60. Laurel, You look terrific. Keep resting and eating well. I must say you made me chuckle when you said your bruises “ peaked” on Wednesday. Made me think of the fall foliage “peaking”!
I’m hoping your sense of humor understands my sense of humor! 🤞🏻 Love all your advice and pics!! Be well!!

  61. Thank you Laurel for this wonderful post! It warms my heart to see you loving your new home in Boston. You deserve happiness 💕

  62. Dear Laurel,
I’m so glad you’re on the mend. You look great, BTW. I still remember that awful
fall you had in NY. Hope you can resolve all
those issues you are having and get back to your hilarious self. Love seeing your pictures. Take care, get rest!
    Pat

  63. I was away and just now getting caught up—so glad you are feeling better. Nothing like rest for healing, but it is just so hard to slow down! My best rest is looking at all the beautiful pictures you post! I’m so glad you love your new home so much. And on a personal note: my daughter is a student at Emerson just around the corner, so through your eyes and lovely photos I get a glimpse of her world, too. Take care of yourself.

  64. So glad that you are better! Nothing gets you down for long and your spirit is infectious.
Your sweet story of the kind and thoughtful young lady at Joe’s is precious (like a jewel is precious).
    Cheers Laurel!

  65. Despite your fall, it’s clear you are enjoying your beautiful new home city! Thank you for sharing with us. You look healthy and healing in your selfies–as Leslie said, no damage to those gorgeous teeth. Rest is doing you good, please take care. Sending loads of good thoughts your way!

  66. Hi Laurel,

I’m so glad you are doing better and are well enough to get out and enjoy the beauty of your new home. You look just great in your selfies, as always, and thank you for being brave enough to show us how you are healing. I wondered what in the world caused you to fall, so it’s good that you took a look at the area. Do people in Boston use those small shopping carts made for city dwellers? Just curious, as they are pretty handy. Take care, and enjoy those pretty flowers!

  67. Laurel, you look amazing, and I’m so relieved you feel better. Thank you for taking us with you on your adventures. I have been able to visit Boston only twice, but it is my favorite. You spark my sweet memories and make me want to return. Take care of YOU and enjoy your Bostonian fall (pun, intended, not intended)! tee-hee.

  68. Amazing to see you are on the mend so quickly and more amazing in all of this, thankfully you did not damage any of your beautiful teeth. Glad to hear you are taking the some time to rest up.

  69. So happy to see you smiling and feeling better. And you love Boston, but even better, Boston loves you — what a lovely story to start your post!
The yellow chrysanthemums look terrific, especially against the black door. Such a pity one can’t have chrysanthemums for outdoor decor here — in France, they’re strictly for cemeteries (and occasional municipal displays).

  70. Laurel, I’m so glad you’re feeling better! Your lovely smile is very reassuring. Boston is such a beautiful city, with a warm and friendly vibe! Take care!
