A Personal Tragedy | News About Tomorrow’s Blog Giveaway

This post was supposed to have come out two days ago, however, I have been dealing with a personal tragedy that I hoped I wouldn’t have to face for a while. We lost our beloved Peaches today after a brief illness that deteriorated rapidly yesterday into heart failure… He was 16 years and 7 months old.

Here is Peaches with Aaron shortly after he came to live with us in 2001. Aaron was six and Peaches was three.

He gave us so much, so much indescribable joy and love. Well… that’s all I can say for now. The loss is devastating, but life will go on… and something good will come from this. It always does.

I’m only going to post a few photos at this time. I could’ve waited, however, the blog giveaway for the two Chinoiserie vases is tomorrow, so I wanted to give one last reminder for anyone who still wants to enter for the chance to win them. The form is at the top.

I believe that I had said that the drawing will be at noon tomorrow, but it’ll probably be after that because I have a big window treatment installation in the morning in the media room.

Please enjoy the following images using blue and white porcelain. A lot of these ideas can be incorporated in your holiday decorating.

Exquisite dining room by the late Joe Nye. Alright, no blue and white Chinoiserie, but love how striking this room is with its wonderful Gracie wallpaper.

Best wishes to all of the entrants for the giveaway. The winner will be randomly selected tomorrow with an internet program. Once that is done, I will contact the winner via email. They will have 24 hours to respond. If no response back is received, I’ll redo the drawing. I will be using a program which randomly selects the winner.

Blessings and Love to All,

  1. Laurel,
I’m very sorry to hear the news about Peaches. Growing up, each time we lost a pet my mother would tell me the story of the rainbow bridge: animals waiting for their humans on the other side. While sad, it provided comfort and hope…of being reunited with our loyal friends. I hope you don’t think the story is corny.
    Talk soon,
    Loi

  2. So sorry about Peaches! Pets are definitely treasured family members. We lost our dear Ashley last year – a 19-year-old Corgi that is irreplaceable. Prayers for healing and good memories.

  3. I shed a little tear when I read about your kitty. I lost my dear cat Ricky last December on Winter Solstice. He was 23 years old. I still miss him. I’m thinking of you.

  4. I join others with sadness for your loss, we should rejoice for the wonderful lives we gave our pets for they had a life of warmth, love, cozy places to snuggle and plenty of special treats, the love we gave them was returned to us in full measure!

  6. Rest in peace Peaches, what a lucky kitty to have been so loved…hugs. And thank you for your Beautiful and informative blog…I always look forward to it very much:)

  7. So saddened to learn of your loss. Peaches was a beauty. Those photos are priceless as are the memories.

  8. Hi Laurel…

So sorry to hear about your dear Peaches. There’s no consoling…I know. Even time seems not to help, as I still cry when I look toward where my little Murray (my lab mix) was buried. I only had him for 9 years, so I am jealous of the extended time you had with your sweetie.

Looking forward to the giveaway tomorrow…but I wish that it was under different circumstances for you.

    Linda
