This is a funny time of year for me. When other people are vacationing and getting their kids ready to go back to school, I’m in my office working, working. Admittedly, a lot of my work is doggone fun! What’s funny, is since there’s no clear beginning and end to the week, it’s easy to forget what day it is!
One day, I may do a “day in the life of…” One of those days, like when I find out the rug arrived at the receivers, ripped and stained. The shipping company that needs to deliver a table is going out of business. And the guys put back the drapery hardware after the room was painted. [they were told not to put it back up.] That sort of thing!
I am working on a series of posts that I think you’re going to love. And I am having the best time putting it all together for you, and as a reference for myself. I don’t want to give it completely away. [a girl has to have a few secrets!] ;]
Anyway, I was looking for kitchens on pinterest which have had a lot of action. When I got close to the bottom, I found one with 53 repins and 4 hearts. To my great astonishment, it was one of my kitchens! To be fair, I did not design this kitchen. That was done by JEM Woodworking who is the same company that I worked together with to design the Bronxville kitchen. [which is done except for the furnishings which are coming very soon.] Although, I did approve the design and tweaked the coffered ceiling pattern. This is a great solution for an 8-foot ceiling when you still want the coffered detail, but the normal 6″ would look horrible.
I also did the lighting, the benches, backsplash, counters, hardware, stools, sofa and cabinet and wall colors.

What is really funny, is that I took this with my old Nikon pocket camera which wasn’t too bad 5 years ago, but I didn’t use a tripod. I couldn’t hold the bloody thing steady that day. I winced when I downloaded them. But isn’t that butcher block counter to die for? And I still adore the fabric on the sofa. That is a chenille from Donghia that I had knit-backed for stabilization. [a little shop talk] The wonderful Mercury glass pendants are from Jamie Young.
I actually did do a post when this blog was in its infancy which you can see here, if you want to see a couple more fuzzy photos. :]
I do have more photos in my portfolio of the family room side of this wonderful kitchen renovation. The family room was an addition to a charming Cape-style home in Chappaqua, NY. Another addition that I furnished, is the pretty white sun room with the black ming end tables. Fabulous clients!
Much more coming soon!
